The Craft of Research

Overview

What is research? How can we be confident that we think we know is really true? In this course, you will learn about the research process, beginning to end, and apply it to a project of your choosing. Throughout the term, we will discuss topics such as what makes a good question, defining hypotheses, conducting literature reviews, introduction to quantitative and qualitative research methods, and reporting your findings. Through working on your own projects, you will also be introduced to basic statistical concepts and software. By the end of the semester, you will be well equipped to tackle your own independent research projects with confidence.
